Holiday cottages - Yorkshire & Lancashire borderThere's a myriad of things to do in the area around the Melling Dub Farm holiday cottages.

How about fishing and bird watching at the Stocks Reservoir? Or walking & cycling in Gisburn Forest (5 minutes away) - there is a host of new trails to Take a tranquil walk near Melling Dub Farmfollow in the Forest or head up to the tracks above Settle for some fantastic views.

There is also all levels of caving & hiking in the Yorkshire Dales and even in to the Lakes which is all within easy driving distance.

Ingleton falls walk is a really scenic and well organised route and a day out in Kirby Lonsdale is also a pleasure with some lovely individual shops and quality eateries. The bustling market town of Settle is less than 10 miles away and has a fantastic collection of artisan & independent shops along with a great events calendar with visitors coming from all over the World to visit the famous Settle Storytelling Festival. Art lovers are served by the Gallery on the Green, housed in an old BT telephone kiosk and thought to be the smallest in the Country!

The Coniston Country Estate is the ideal experience if you fancy clay pigeon shooting, falconry or getting to grips with a Land Rover experience - From steep slopes to sheer drops, through deep gulleys and rutted track, you'll have lots of fun!

The famous Settle to Carlisle railway is close by and the historic station in Settle is worth a visit. The famous "Three Peaks" (Pen-y-Ghent, Whernside & Ingleborough) is a popular weekend walk and covers approx 25 miles on the peaks surrounding Settle, the local market town.

Through the summer months a busy calendar of agricultural shows, craft fairs, fetes & galas gets under way, many are free for you to visit.

If you are looking for a more cosmopolitan escape and are interested in shopping & eating out then Skipton, the gateway to the Dales is just 20 minutes drive away on the A65 and the Spa town of Harrogate is just 45 minutes away up the A59. Leeds or Bradford are approximately 55 minutes away offering a wide array of shops, theatre, restaurants, bars etc. Manchester can be reached in an hour.
